Create a Task Option in SalesLink

Create a Task Option which would be a cross between an Issue and an Activity. One that can be assigned from one person to another that warrants action but is not at the urgent level of a issue. We would like the task notification to be emailed to both the person entering the task and the person assigned the task. This would help sales reps to assign our new demo reps customer demos while allowing the managers line of sight to open and completed tasks.

    Jayme,

Great question, when I came up with this idea it was centered around our demo coordinators. Our process is when a customer requests a machine demo our sales rep has to track down the demo operator and they have to coordinate the demo, then the rep has to manually keep track of the scheduled demo. If a sales rep were able to assign a task to the demo coordinator in SL, there would be an electronic footprint that the demo coordinator, sales rep and sales manager would be able to have line of sight to it all the way through the resolution.

We don't really want our reps to get in the habit of assigning activities to other people, we would prefer to use the activities function solely for PAR recording.

Hope this answered your question - Mandy

Mandy: What would be the difference between a Task and an Activity? It's possible to create an Outstanding Activity for someone else today as well as to re-assign Activities to various users. Is the ask really more about enabling notifications to users when someone else is assigning an activity on their behalf?

Tasks would be an excellent way of communicating a required action by a team member related to an Customer, Opportunity or Issue, syncing Tasks with MS Outlook would also ensure visibility for users who are not typically SalesLink users.
