When we have to quote a different discount rate for larger customers/corporate, etc., the current quote format will discount everything on the quote according to the new/different rate, EXCEPT for the work tools, which remain discounted at 28% dealer discount. We use Standard Packages extensively to create quotes and so the standard 28% is built into the Model Config. After a new quote is created from this package, we are unable to adjust the discount on the work tools from the CAT price file. Refer to Closed ticket 19252 for related documentation in the Support Portal.
Not to tell you how to manage you process, but in my opinion the CAT discount should always be 28% and then you should use the Post Sale Credit Claims for additional discounts in addition to the standard 28%. Here, you can select whether that post sale claim applies to the work tools as well as the machine.
In testing CloudLink yesterday, this came up again. What is really happening is that if the rep chooses and item from ANY other price file besides the chosen base model, the item that is added still comes in at the standard CAT 28%. We think it would be better if all items on the quote receive the discount that is on the quote header, unless otherwise specified on a line item basis. Is the new 'Corporate Discount' feature the only way to handle this? Thank you.
